Story by Carlos Baena

I had put up a question on Carlos Baena's blog asking about the most elusive (to me) and my favorite topic - Story. He's given his thoughts on it and also a few recommendations. And also what does story telling means.
Story Telling for Animators
Favorite line - "What's important in my opinion, is that we say something new or something meaningful." Need to keep this in mind!!

CGTantra Animation Session

Two posts in one day! Yeaaaa!
An animation session is being held this month on Cgtanra by DJ.
There are 3 levels of animation exercises based on difficulty.
I'm going for the third level. I know it might be a bit too much for me, but I've decided to give it my best shot.
I'll be taking it as a physical exercise to work on body mechanics so there will be minimum back story and motivation behind it. Although it won't completely be an "assignment" :)

I have done the planning part of it by blocking out some really rough poses and timing them in 2D. The main note that I got on it was to pull back the poses and tone them down.

2D Planning

C&C most welcome as they'll help me in the maya stage :)

Walk Final

Hi!
I've not been updating this blog for sometime. You can call it blogger's block or my laziness.
I was done with this walk a week back.

Back with a Walk

Hey!
I was out on a trip to Kedarnath and Badrinath. The place was SO beautiful, I had not seen a more peaceful place in my life.
And now I'm back with some work........
I've tried to do a walk. It's not too characterised but it isn't a generic walk either.
Have a look and do comment and critique!!
Walk
I still need to work on the hands.......and arcs too....
Thanx!!

Inspiraton and PIXAR

I just read this awesome awesome speech by J.K. Rowling at Harvard Graduation day via Alexiss Dawn's blog. It is inspirational, moving, troubling, eye-opening and awakening kind of a speech.

And coming back to the animated world here a great article, Difficult is Worth Doing, at Upcoming Pixar. It tells you why is PIXAR above the rest of the studios. And I totally agree with the writer. It's also about what is creativity and what kills creativity. Interesting read, check it out.

Also the interview mentioned in the above article is this one.........

This the best interview I've ever seen/read/heard. It shows PIXAR's passion and their sincerity.

Tom and Jerry Study

Ok! Here's a quick stick figure study of a run from Tom and Jerry. It's an attempt to understand the workings of the broad cartoony stuff.
Run
I'll do this along with the main animations I'm trying to do. Let's see how far I can go.
C&C always welcome!! :)

How to get into PIXAR?

Haha! There's an interesting discussion going on at cgsociety about "how hard is it to get into pixar ??". There are some helpful answers. There are some serious answers that tell, getting into PIXAR isn't everything. And then there are some cheesy answers which are real fun! :D
With all the masala mixed it is an educative and fun read.
